'Social for Action' Initiative by 'Sakal Social Foundation' for Rural Development! The crematorium in Mahalunge Padwal, a village in Ambegaon Taluka, Pune district, had fallen into disrepair. Through 'Sakal Social Foundation,' in collaboration with 'Shri Harinarayan Rathi Charity Trust' from Pune and other generous donors, approximately ₹4.5 lakh has been spent to install two new cremation platforms and carry out 45 x 40 feet of cement concreting at the site. The villagers have expressed their satisfaction with this initiative. Mahalunge Padwal has a population of over 8,500 people. The village consists of 18 hamlets, including Gaothan, Indiranagar, Saidwadi, Desawala, Khalchi Thakarwadi, Vikaswadi, Solatmala, Kaldara, Malwadi, Chandanwadi, Pingaldara, Udarmala, Ghayalmala, Ambatkarmala, Patilvasti, Ghodekarmala, Sabremala, and Chaskarmala, all of which share a single crematorium in the Gaothan area. Both cremation platforms at the site had deteriorated and were no longer usable. A news report titled "Even the Final Journey is Filled with Agony" was published in 'Sakal' on November 12, 2024, highlighting this issue with images. Following this, 'Sakal Social Foundation' took the initiative to restore the crematorium. Thanks to these efforts, the crematorium renovation is now nearing completion.

Issue:
While the installation of two new cremation platforms and cement concreting has been completed, the roofing work for the crematorium is still pending. The estimated cost for this is around ?2 lakh. Various organizations, philanthropists, and CSR companies are encouraged to contribute toward the roofing repairs.

So far, the campaign has successfully supported 23 NGOs working in different sectors across Maharashtra and eight individuals requiring urgent medical assistance.
