About the Organization:
Sakal - the flagship brand of the Sakal Media Group - was born on January 1, 1932 and has today evolved into the voice of the entire state of Maharashtra. "A newspaper is a medium of public education and of social change." This has remained our philosophy. Sakal has stewarded several social initiatives over the past several decades with many of the initiatives going beyond Sakal's own regional markets, addressing needs across the country. Social impact and social change remains the core of the Sakal's beliefs even today and with this Sakal is introducing its own Crowdfunding platform - Social For Action. We belief that the role of media today has changed from being an advocate of social causes to being the facilitator or the agent of social change itself.

A Father’s Struggle to Treat His Three-Year-Old Daughter Burned by Hot Water Appeal to Society for Help For any daughter, her father is the first hero in her life. Every girl believes that her father will protect her from every danger and stand by her in every crisis. A father remains a strong pillar beside his daughter at every step of her life. One such father is now struggling tirelessly for his daughter’s medical treatment. Mahadev Made (age 39), a young man from a marginal farmer family in Vanjarakheda, Taluka Bhalki, District Bidar, came to Pune ten years ago in search of work. Through a private security company, he started working as a contract security guard at various locations. A few years later, after getting married, he began living in a rented room in the Bavdhan area of Pune. Three years ago, a beautiful flower bloomed in Mahadev’s family with the birth of a lovely daughter. Mahadev was living a happy and harmonious life with his wife and daughter. While everything was going well, in December 2025, Mahadev’s three-year-old daughter, Shrutika, accidentally fell into a bucket of hot water kept for bathing while playing at home. As the water was extremely hot, Shrutika suffered severe burns over 65 percent of her body. She has been undergoing treatment for the past one month at a private children’s hospital in Wakad. Shrutika is responding to the treatment, and so far, medical expenses amounting to ₹16 lakh have been incurred. Mahadev, who has studied up to the 12th standard, had taken a health insurance policy of ₹10 lakh for his family. The insurance amount has now been exhausted, and for the remaining expenses, he managed to raise ₹3 lakh from friends and relatives. For Shrutika to fully recover, she requires plastic surgery, including skin grafting. For further treatment and surgery, an additional ₹15 lakh is required. Mahadev has been struggling for the past one month to get his daughter well. The major challenge before him now is how to arrange another ₹15 lakh for her continued treatment. Apart from his contract job as a security guard, he has no other assets. Even in such difficult circumstances, Mahadev has not lost hope. He is visiting various organizations, public representatives, and associations every day, appealing for help. Speaking about his daughter, Mahadev says, “Due to poverty, I could not pursue higher education. But I saw my dreams in my daughter. I had planned to enroll her in school next year. My effort is to give her good education and help her achieve great things in life. I am ready to do any kind of hard work for this. I request society to help me in getting my daughter well.”
