About the Organization:
Sevadham Trust is a registered Public Charitable Trust, established in 1978 and registered under the Bombay Public Trusts Act, 1950 (Reg. No. E-617). Right from its inception in 1978 it has been working for the last 47 years for the welfare of under-privileged & underserved communities in Rural Tribal area & in urban slums.
Issue:
In a settlement in Pune lives 75-year-old Leela Shinde (name changed), all by herself. Her husband passed away prematurely, and she has no children. To make ends meet, she even sold her house. However, the person who bought it showed compassion and told her, “Grandmother, you can continue living here,” giving her shelter in the same home.
Action:
She had a roof over her head, but there was not a morsel of food to eat. She was suffering from illness, but had no access to medicines. One day, a volunteer from Sevadham Trust learned about the elderly woman, who was lying weak and hungry in a corner of her home. When the volunteer visited and saw her condition, she immediately informed the organization.
