In the wake of the recent ethnic violence in Manipur, the people of the state have faced unimaginable hardships and are in urgent need of support. As a conscious social organization, we at Social For Action, have made a preliminary contribution of 5 lakhs towards relief efforts.
We are now reaching out to the community, appealing for additional funds through our crowdfunding platform, in order to extend our united support even further. Working alongside the Wide Angle Social Development Organisation and the All Manipur Working Journalist Union (AMWJU), Social For Action has, till now distributed essential relief materials at the Akampat relief camp in Imphal East. The camp has become a temporary home for 720 victims from Moreh and Churachandpur who have been displaced due to the ongoing violence.
The relief materials provided through this initiative included rice, onions, potatoes, drinking water, fermented fish (Ngari), soap, and sanitary pads. These supplies are crucial in addressing the immediate needs of the affected individuals and offering them a sense of stability during these trying times.
Recognizing the urgency of the situation, relief materials were also distributed at other locations, including Maklang, New Keithelmanbi, Konthoujam, Yaingangpokpi, and Phayeng relief camps. These efforts aim to provide much-needed assistance and demonstrate solidarity among the people of Manipur.
However, the path to recovery and rebuilding is long and arduous. The impact of this unprecedented violence has left lasting scars on the affected communities, and it will require sustained support to help them heal and rebuild their lives.
